Capcom has officially announced to release Okami HD for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Japan on December 13, 2017. All the versions will be available with 4K support, and include the loading screen mini-games.
The re-release will be in Japan. However, the company has not commented if the game will be available outside Japan.
“Okami HD will be compatible with Xbox One X and PS4 Pro whilst featuring stunning 4K graphics on Xbox One X, PS4 Pro and supported PC hardware,” stated Capcom in a press release.
“Players will be able to choose between playing in a modern widescreen format or the original 2007 release’s 4:3 ratio. Interactive loading game screens from the original game are also included, allowing players to earn bonus demon fangs which can be traded for in-game items.”
Rumors were swirling around that Okami HD will be released for two consoles in 2017. They were based on sources of European retailers’ internal physical release calendar of December 12. It also suggested that Okami HD would be released in European territories around the same time.
Clover Studio developed Okami for PS2 in 2006. The firm was a subsidiary of Capcom, which is not operational now.
Okami gained prominence throughout the world with its magnificent graphics inspired by traditional Japanese sumi-e paintings and Zelda-like gameplays. The release of Wii version, which had additional motion controls for Celestial Brush system of the game took place in 2008. Okamiden, the only sequel of Okami, was released earlier in 2011.
The company also released a statement saying that it will release more HD remasters as a part of its major business strategies to move forward.
