The launch of Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Xbox One hit one million players within 48 hours of its launch. The game was released in the Game Preview program in the last week.
Brendon Greene, the Playerunknown himself announced the hit on Twitter and expressed gratitude for the huge response.
He twitted, “Over 1M players tried @PUBATTLEGROUNDS within 48hrs of launch on @Xbox Game Preview! This is humbling, so thank you all!”
There are still issues in the game on Xbox One. Greene outlined that players should expect regular updates to expand and improve the game over the period of time. The game developer Bluehole considered the PUBG as a games-as-a-service title, so this kind of support would be given to the game.
“It’s the start of the road on console for us,” Greene added in a tweet. “We’ve lots to improve & update over the coming months & w/ your feedback we’ll make a great game together!”
PUBG does not provide a free trial for a Game Preview title, but Xbox One launch was an exception. Many people would try the unfinished game before purchasing it.
Addressing the issue of PUBG’s performance on Xbox One, Phil Spencer, head of Xbox division at Microsoft said on Twitter that he visited the team at Bluehole. Commenting on the meeting, he said, “We are seeing feedback and will continue to update.”
The launch on Xbox One is expected to bring enormous revenue to PUBG, considering the response in first 48 hours.
