Although it was only an imagination to include phone, personal organization, and computing in one hardware, it became a reality with a new gadget known as the smartphone. As the adoption for this new marvel began to accelerate, the marketplace flooded with a vast number of market players. Smartphone manufacturers have been availing various strategies to stand out in the fiercely competitive market. Offering innovative features has been one of the prominent strategies that would put their smartphones into the hands of consumers. Enormous investments have been poured into research & development activities and new features have been invented. These manufacturers have been endeavoring to offer a solution for as many requirements as possible. Among many requirements, they began equipping cameras into the smartphones. The dual cameras, which enable people to take selfies. The next marvel was to include cameras with high clarity. Then smartphones were equipped with four cameras. It was one of the strategies to stand out in the market and attract consumers.
Now, it is rumored, as per the report from Android Police, that the next flagship smartphone of LG will have five cameras. Its V40, an upgrade to V30, will be equipped with five cameras. According to the sources of Android Police, the company would feature three cameras on the back and dual camera on the front. It is also rumored that this will include 3D face mapping as well as unlocking. Though triple-rear camera and dual front camera are not something unique, LG’s smartphone will become the first smartphone to feature both systems in the same device.
The three-camera setup on the back is similar to Huawei’s P20 Pro. Two of those cameras will have a standard wide lens and ultrawide lens, which is the signature lens of LG. The purpose of the third camera is not determined yet. This can be equipped with a zoom lens or set up for bokeh or depth of field effects.
The source of Android Police outlined that the V40 will be equipped with a notched display, similar to the G7 in which we could switch the notch “off”. The design resembles to a scaled-up G7. The V40 will have an aesthetic appearance by which it will give look and feel of a premium smartphone. LG’s Quad DAC will be featuring in the phone along with Google Assistant button and the volume rocker. There will be no change in the installation of a fingerprint sensor on the back. This phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor.
Customers should not expect a major breakthrough over the G7. The manufacturer would follow its basic formula and give an upgrade to a camera to enable better photos. The display technology has not been confirmed yet. The company may go with OLED or LCD panel. The G7 had a bright LCD screen.
The smartphone photography has been one of the sensational features equipped in smartphones. LG needs to gain momentum in the smartphone photography after being sloppy for past years. Other market players such as Google, Huawei, and Samsung have been offering one of the best smartphone photography experiences. Adding another camera would be another strategy to gain that competitive edge. It will be interesting to see how consumers will accept this new smartphone expected to be released by the end of this year.
