Foldable phones have been creating a buzz for years. Samsung was the first one that teased it 2014 and then gave hints about it. Nonetheless, until recently, it seemed to be more like a concept phone that will be probable in the future.

This all changed when Royole Corporation, a global manufacturer of advanced flexible displays and more, launched its FlexPai device, the world’s first commercially available foldable phone. Following this launch, the South Korean multinational conglomerate, Samsung revealed its flexible smartphone prototype during its developer conference.

And its not just Samsung, but also other manufacturers such as Huawei, Oppo, LG, and Motorola who have foldable phones in the works. It is reported that some of them have plans for a commercial release of foldable phones in 2019. Here’s a look at some of the phones which are expected to hit the market in 2019:

Samsung Galaxy Fold

Likely to reach the market in April 2019, this foldable smartphone features a 7.3” QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED display, a 4.6” HD+ Super AMOLED display, cover camera, dual camera, and tripe camera, 4380mAh battery capacity, fast charging compatible on wired and wireless, 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor, 12GB RAM with 512GB internal storage, and Android 9.0 (Pie) operating system.

Huawei Mate X

This foldable smartphone features a 6.6″ display, 8 GB of RAM, and a screen resolution of 1148 x 2480 pixels. It operates on Android v9.0 (Pie) and is powered by an octa-core processor. It also has a 4500 mAh battery and a 40MP + 16MP + 8MP rear camera. The phone also has other sensors such as light sensor, proximity sensor, accelerometer, barometer, and gyroscope.

Oppo Foldable Phone

Oppo is another vendor that brings foldable phone to the market. Brian Shen, Vice President at Oppo showcased a prototype of the phone without revealing any specifications or other information. As per the images of the prototype, the phone resembles the Huawei Mate X and seems to have an outward-wrapped flexible display that provides two screens when folded and a single screen experience when unfolded. The phone also seems to have a thick bar on one side that includes a camera module, which appears to have a dual-LED flash. It also seems to have a new ColorOS version backed by Android.

Motorola Razr V4

Moto is likely to launch its latest new product – Motorola RAZR V4 this year. Some of the prime features of the foldable phone are its 41.0 DSLR Pop Up camera, eye acre technology, and its beautiful design. The smartphone also features a stainless-steel design with four-sided 3D glasses. Its other features include a dual-SIM (Nano), Android 8.1 Oreo (upgradable to Android 9), a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with Adreno GPU and 8GB of RAM, and a 6.15-inch full-HD+ (1080×2280 pixels) IPS display. Its dual rear camera setup has a 41-megapixel primary sensor and a 16-megapixel secondary sensor, along with an LED flash. The front side has a 16-megapixel camera sensor with Face Wake support.
